 St Edwards (Cappagh & Rathcoffey) recorded a decisive win over Leixlip in Rathcoffey on Sunday October 13th in the under 15 div 2 league third round Leixlip were first on the board with a goal and a point taking full advantage of good early ball to their full forward line full forward Sean Barrett got the early goal and was always a threat St Edwards settled with some good work at midfield by Sean Flynn and Evan mcGovern Dean Hosey broke through cover setting up Conor Harris for an opening point A period of sustained pressure from St Edwards half forwards of Harris Hosey and jack Reilly yielding a number of frees which were expertly slotted over by Sean Flynn Alan Kelly who had made a good start at full forward finally broke through for a point after 15 minutes after Jack Travers and Dara Turley had put Leixlip ahead with further points . Travers scored a sublime effort from a 45 which is an outstanding achievement at this level. Points from Alan Kelly Dean Hosey Jack Reilly and Evan McGovern brought St Edwards to the front by the narrowest of margins where Leixlip were unlucky to have been denied by the woodwork on two occasions A fine display by David Murphy at Center back put pay to a lot of Leixlip Efforts . He was ably assisted by Gearoid. O Connor and Jack Travers At full back. Leixlip started the second half well with a quick through ball from Jack Travers deceiving the keeper it looked like they were back in business again But from then on St Edwards took a vice like grip on the game which resulted in goals , first from Alan Kelly then Killian Comerford and Dean Hosey Jason Curtin was a constant thorn to Leixlip in fighting for broken ball and setting up scores as well as taking a fine score himself David Murphy make a huge impact for St Edwards when moving to midfield in the second half and also got on the scoring board .
